Important Requirements

Technical Requirements & Platform Standards

To ensure your music is accepted by all streaming platforms, it must meet specific technical and content requirements. Review these standards carefully before submission.

Audio File Requirements

Required Specifications

File Format

  • WAV (recommended) - Lossless quality
  • FLAC - Lossless compression
  • AIFF - Apple lossless format
  • MP3 (320 kbps minimum) - Acceptable but not recommended

Sample Rate & Bit Depth

  • 44.1 kHz at 16-bit (CD quality - standard)
  • 48 kHz at 24-bit (HD quality - preferred)
  • 96 kHz at 24-bit (Hi-Res audio - premium)
  • Below 44.1 kHz / 16-bit will be rejected

Loudness & Mastering

  • Integrated Loudness: -14 LUFS ±1 (streaming standard)
  • True Peak: -1 dBTP maximum (prevent clipping)
  • Dynamic Range: Minimum 7 dB LRA
  • Platforms will normalize audio automatically

Prohibited Audio Issues

Audio Quality Issues

  • Clipping/Distortion: Hard clipping or digital distortion
  • Low Quality: Poor recordings, excessive noise, hiss
  • Artifacts: MP3 artifacts from multiple conversions
  • Silence: Excessive silence at start or end (>2 seconds)

Content Issues

  • Watermarks: Audio watermarks or ID tags
  • Spoken Intros: DJ tags, podcast intros, announcements
  • Sound Effects: Non-musical sound effects as main content
  • Incomplete: Demos, snippets, or unfinished tracks

AI & Synthetic Content

  • AI-Generated Music: Fully AI-composed tracks
  • AI Vocals: Synthetic voice cloning or deepfakes
  • AI-assisted production (plugins) is acceptable
Pro Tip: Professional Mastering

For best results on streaming platforms, have your tracks professionally mastered to meet loudness standards. Most platforms normalize audio to -14 LUFS, so overly loud masters may actually sound worse after normalization.

  • Format: JPG or PNG
  • Ratio: Perfect square (1:1)
  • Color: RGB color space

Prohibited Content

  • "Now Available" or promotional text
  • Platform logos (Spotify, Apple, etc.)
